Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project, working for the upliftment of the rural poor people in the state of Karnataka, has entered into an MoU with Life Insurance Corporation of India, to provide life insurance cover to around 60 lakh self-help group members of SKDRDP through its flagship “Jeeva Bima Bhadrathe” scheme.
The purpose of this scheme is to cover the micro-credit given to the members of self-help group and their families in case of death during the coverage. LIC of India has provided the life insurance which covers under its group insurance policy.
In this connection, a special programme was arranged on Monday at Dharmasthala where in T C Suseel Kumar, Zonal Manager, LIC of India, South Central Zonal office, Hyderabad handed over the master policy to the Dharmadhikari, of Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala D Veerendra Heggade.
T C Suseel Kumar, Zonal Manager said that, "this is a mega scheme being administered by LIC of India to provide life insurance cover to the rural masses by bringing in the financial security to the family of these members in the event of unfortunate death of borrower member."
D Veerendra Heggade, while lauding the role played by LIC of India in the field of life insurance in India, appreciated the benefits that this group insurance scheme gives to the members through this micro credit insurance, serving the purpose of financial inclusion of all the borrower members of the SKDRDP.
Senior Officials of both the institutions including Dr L H Manjunath, Executive Director, M K Abraham, Director Sampoorna suraksha and D Jayaram, Director (Suvidha) from SKDRDP and others were present.
