The delay in the announcement of the State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) results conducted by the University of Mysuru (UoM) has left thousands of aspirants to posts of lecturers in the lurch. UoM had conducted the SLET in December 2017. However, even after six months since the exam, there is no sign of the university announcing the results. In fact, students have been running from pillar to post, trying to know the reason for the delay.

SLET being mandatory for aspirants to the posts of lecturers in Karnataka, UoM had conducted the test in close to about 50 subjects across various disciplines. Aspirants who had appeared for the SLET said the university could have announced the result in a month.

"After 2007, there have been so many vacancies in colleges. However, it calls for mandatory clearance of SLET. But with the university delaying results, we are left in the lurch," a student of Karnataka University, Dharwad, rued.

Several students called up the university officials over the results. But officials reportedly told the students that university personnel were busy in election duty and the results would be announced after the polls. However, there was no sign of results even after a month since the polls ended.

Acknowledging the delay in announcement of results, Rajanna, registrar, Mysuru University pointed fingers at the University Grants Commission (UGC).

"The results will be declared after obtaining the consent of UGC members. In fact, they will finalise the date for announcement of results. There are various state universities that come under UGC. We are ready with the result. As soon as we get the approval from UGC members, we will announce the date. Hopefully, the result will be announced before July 15.” Rajanna said.
