Speaking at the janaspandana programme held at Peraje Gram Panchayat hall in Sampaje hobli, he said “I am opposed to the move of Sullia TMC to dump waste at Peraje.”
“Dumping of wastes will lead to health related problems in the region. In fact, Sullia residents drink water from the river which flows near Peraje. This should be understood by the TMC,” he added.
He said “Peraje villagers have already expressed their opinion to Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner. Kodagu Deputy Commissioner has also written a letter to the government regarding the problem of waste disposal.”
The residents should solve the problem related to waste disposal peacefully without creating any problem. In case of necessity, I will hold discussion with Sullia MLA, he assured.
Bopaiah said “electricity connection will be provided to 30,000 BPL families under Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification scheme. If any eligible BPL families are not included in the list, they can register their names.”
“There is a need for additional kerosene to rural areas as the district receives heavy rains for four to five months in a year. A proposal has been sent to the Centre to increase the quota of kerosene to the district. If the Centre approves the proposal, the district will receive additional kerosene,” he added.
Department officials should see that the various facilities of the government reach the people. Officials should understand the problems faced by the rural people., he added
Responding to the grievances of the people, Tahsildar Devaraj said “measures have been initiated to see that there is no delay in issuing caste and income certificate. If a Tahsildar issues a caste certificate, it will be in vogue till he cancels it. In this background, college and school authorities should not ask for these certificates every year,” he added.
“Monthly honourariums are distributed to 6000 individuals in Madikeri taluk under various schemes. Of which, 2000 individuals were considered not eligible for the facilities owing to various reasons. Public should co-operate while inspection. If a member of the BPL family accidentally dies, then a compensation of Rs 10,000 will be given under National Security Scheme. For the compensation, the family members can file an application within six months of the death.” Taluk Panchayat Member Nagesh Kundalpady said “Janaspandana programmes are being organised to solve the problems of the people at the rural areas. Rural folks should make use of the programme.
Taluk Panchayat EO Motappa said under Swarna Jayanthi Rozgar scheme, Rs 1.25 lakh revolving fund and financial assistance will be given.
Bopaiah distributed bonds to the beneficiaries of sandhya suraksha, disabled and Bhagyalakshmi scheme. Peraje Gram Panchayat President Susheela and others were present.
