‘Drive your car with the help of a blind navigator’ witnessed the participation of 34 visually impaired in the 50-km rally, here on Sunday. Twenty women navigators outnumbered men and  showed their enthusiasm by actively taking part in the event.

The event organised jointly by N Ranga Rao and Sons and Mysorerally.com was flagged off by National Federation of the Blind President Siddaraju. University of Mysore’s Dr Krishna R Hombal said that the rally was the first of its kind in the city.
Driver Kushal Sait with navigator Shanthi and team member Divya emerged as winners of the rally, which started off at J K Grounds.

Route

The rally passed through Irwin Road, JLB Road, Ramaswamy Circle, RTO circle, Vani Vilas Road, Manasagangothri, Hunsur Road, Kalidasa Road, Ring Road, Infosys Limited, Columbia Asia Hospital, Bannur Road, Lalitha Mahal Palace road, Chamundi Hills  before culminating CAR Police Grounds.

It was time for some entertainment in the evening with visually impaired vocalists Yogesh and Mallikarjun supported by a rock band from Vidyashram, who created a fusion of sorts by recreating Kannada songs in rocking style.

Songs such as ‘Santoshakke... Haadu Santhoshakke’ from the runaway hit flick ‘Geetha’ and ‘Kodagana Koli Nungitha’,  reverberated at the MMC and RI Platinum Jubilee Hall, transporting the gathering to the world of 80’s and 90’s.
