BJP leader and Molakalmuru MLA B Sriramulu has alleged that Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy had murdered democracy by pressuring the BJP candidate for Ramanagara Assembly bypoll, L Chandrashekar, to withdraw his candidature.

The polling for Ramanagara Assembly bypoll is scheduled for Nov 3. Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, Sriramulu said, “Kumaraswamy has proven that he’s anti-democratic by forcing the BJP candidate to withdraw from the fray in the last minute and thereby clear decks for his wife Anitha Kumaraswamy’s victory.”

Replying to a query on Siddaramaiah’s remarks, Sriramulu said, “I am not as intelligent as Siddaramaiah. I admit that I am an illiterate and unintelligent. But I am aware of the fact that the accent and the style of Kannada language change every 13 km. I speak rural Kannada. Siddaramaiah has called me 420. But people of the state identify me with 108 number for implementing 108 emergency ambulance service when I was Health minister,” he hit back at the former chief minister.
