State BJP general secretary C T Ravi said on Wednesday that the legal team representing Karnataka in the Supreme Court had become a gruel centre, as people like Congress member Brijesh Kalappa were also in that team. “The legal team should be reconstituted, as we need better legal and technical experts,” Ravi said. He was speaking to reporters in the city.

He said that the chief minister should call a meeting of legal experts, former water resources ministers and others, ahead of the hearing of the Cauvery case by the Supreme Court on October 18. A strong argument should be presented by the state by collecting all required information. However, state BJP president B S Yeddyurappa reiterated that there was no need to change the head of the state’s legal team, Fali S Nariman, efficiently argued in favour of the state in the Cauvery issue before the Supreme Court.

He told mediapersons here that the state government taking decisions on the issue in consultation with the legislature was a welcome move.

The Congress leaders’ demand for evidence about the surgical strikes on terrorist camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir was foolishness, Yeddyurappa said. The entire world has hailed the Indian Army’s action, he said. BJP national organising secretary Ramlal said Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a bold decision on surgical strikes.
