Belagavi: A stepmother has been accused of murdering her stepdaughter by grandparents of the child, but the woman has denied the allegations and has stated that the child succumbed at Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences District Hospital on Monday.

Deceased was identified as Samruddhi Rayanna Navi (4) resident of Kangrali KH village in Belagavi taluk. Her grandfather Sunil Hampannavar alleged that Samruddhi has been murdered by her stepmother Sapna.

Police said, Sapna produced documents that Samruddhi was unwell for the past couple of days and had been suffering from vomiting, lose motion along with epilepsy.

She reportedly lost life during treatment at the District Hospital. Deceased girl's father Rayanna has been working in CRPF and has confirmed health condition of his daughter. The case will be registered based on the complaint filed by father after his arrival Monday evening.

Incident took place in the jurisdiction of APMC police station.

Rayanna has also been accused of murder of his first wife.
