The Karnataka Examinations Authority is contemplating on having integrated option entry for medical and engineering courses this year, but the success of such a move hinges on the availability of seat matrix for both the courses on time.

Explaining the process of counselling to one of the parents at Eduverse, the education event organised by Deccan Herald-Prajavani, Public Relations Officer of KEA, A S Ravi said the document verification would be common for entry into medical, dental, Ayush, engineering and other streams for which the KEA offers counselling.

The option entry integration would depend on the release of seat matrix.

“It depends on the announcement of National Eligibility and Entrance Exam results,” he added.

Ravi said that if the seat matrix was released by the 10 or 15th, they would be integrated to help make the process convenient for students.

“We are expecting NEET results on June 5. We are trying to get seat matrix simultaneously. If it comes, integrated option entry would be made available,” he added.

The results of the Karnataka Common Entrance Exams are expected to be announced by the end of this week.

The official also took queries from several parents who are hopeful of their ward getting a seat through the counselling process.

While one of the parents sought to know if a student ought to submit documents attested by a gazetted officer despite being 18 years or older, Ravi said that the student can submit self-attested documents if older than 18.

Parents also sought to know the procedure involved in availing architecture seats.

Ravi said that architecture scores would be compiled, NATA scores would be taken and students would be counselled based on these.

Ravi also comforted students stating that fresh ranks would be generated if the revaluation results provide better scores to students in their board exams.

As per the previous schedule, the CET 2018 results were to be declared by May 25. However, with a delay in CBSE results, the authority had to wait to announce the results, according to sources.
