'Sub-standard food supplied to Anganwadi'

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, the duo said that though many children have fallen ill due to the consumption of the low quality food, the officials concerned have turned a nelson’s eye to the whole issue.

Showing the samples of the packaged food, they alleged that the food items which have past  expired date were being supplied. They alleged that officials in collusion with food manufacturing companies were supplying the poor quality food and urged the senior officers to take action against them.

“From past one year raw rice has not been distributed to girls,” said Narayanaswamy who added that rent amount was yet to be disbursed. The Bhagyalakshmi Bonds for the year 2006/07 should be distributed immediately, said Narayanaswamy who added that recruitment orders to all the women who where recruited by Anganwadi must be issued. He also demanded that honourarium of workers who had been working for more than 35 years without any benefits must be increased in the budget and pension facility must be provided.
