To quell the disgruntlement within the party, BJP has appointed Tejaswini Ananth Kumar, wife of the late union minister H N Ananth Kumar as the vice-president of the state unit.
BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa made an announcement to this effect on Twitter on Tuesday.
“I am very delighted to announce that Smt. @Tej_AnanthKumar has been appointed as state vice president of @BJP4Karnataka. Wishing her all the very best,” his tweet read. Tejaswini is among 11 vice-presidents in the party now.
The party had ruffled some feathers by ditching Tejaswini who was a frontrunner for the Bangalore South ticket and nominating BJP Yuva Morcha leader Tejasvi Surya instead.
Though Tejaswini had maintained that she was not upset by the party’s decision, she had indirectly registered her protest by distancing herself from all electioneering activities.
Surya’s nomination had also not gone down well with many Bengaluru leaders, including MLAs R Ashoka, V Somanna and Satish Reddy.
The trio who kept away when Tejasvi filed his nomination, had also refused to campaign for him. The party, however, got into damage control mode and pacified the MLAs. On Monday, BJP legislators put up a united front by deciding to work together for Surya’s victory.
On Tuesday morning, Tejaswini had tweeted two photos and said: “Back to @adamya_chetana works. Inspected the installation of the new steam generator for #Bengaluru kitchen.”
