"The BJP will come to power in the state and Tumakuru Rural candidate B Suresh Gowda will be made a minister. Hence, the people should support him," BJP national president Amit Shah urged the voters.

He was speaking at the election campaign rally for Suresh Gowda at Hebburu in the taluk on Wednesday.

"The BJP will form the government under the leadership of B S Yeddyurappa. When the BJP was in power in the state, a huge amount of grants was released for the development of the constituency. MLA Suresh Gowda has transformed Tumakuru Rural into a model constituency. This time, he (Suresh Gowda) will made a minister," Shah said.

During his speech, Shah invoked the icons of the region Dr Shivakumara Swamiji, renowned physicist Raja Ramanna, sculptor Jakanachari, pioneer of Kannada theatre Gubbi Veeranna and Adichunchunagiri Mutt seer Nirmalanandanatha Swami.

"I have toured across the state. I have seen the BJP wave at many places. The BJP tsunami wave will sink the Congress, the BJP president said.

"The agrarian sector is in knee-deep crisis. Many farmers have ended their life due to lack of rain and unscientific pricing of agri yields. The siddaramaiah-led government did nothing to understand the farmers' woes and take measures to address them," he alleged.

Shah added, "If voted to power, the BJP will write off all forms of agricultural loans up to Rs 1 lakh. Rs 10,000 will be distributed to 20 lakh farmers under Negila Yogi scheme."

"While the Congress government did not come to the rescue of the coconut growers in Kalpataru Nadu, the BJP-led Union government has responded to their woes by announcing 40% MSP for copra. Further, the Centre has plans to set up coconut processing centres at five major coconut-growing districts in the state, including Tumakuru," Shah said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given 113 schemes and projects to Karnataka. But most of them have failed to reach the beneficiaries due to the lacklustre attitude of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, he alleged.

Party candidate from Rural constituency B Suresh Gowda, said, "The people of the constituency have seen my work. They will support me this time too. I will win by a margin of 20,000 votes."

Zilla Panchayat vice-president Sharada Narasimhamurthy, ZP members Anita Siddegowda, Guluru Shivakumar, TP vice president Shantkumar, Ramaswamigowda, Shivakumar, Chikkanatti Shivakumar among others were present.
