Udupi: Suspected Naxal leader Vikram Gowda is allegedly killed in an exchange of gunfire between Anti-Naxal Force (ANF) and suspected Naxals at Sitambailu near Kabbinale in Hebri of Udupi district.

Since the first week of November, there were reports on the movements of suspected Naxals in the Hebri region and the ANF had been carrying out combing operations in Chikkamagaluru and Udupi districts.

Reportedly, on Monday night, a group of five Naxals came near Sitambailu to collect rations when the ANF team launched an operation. In the ensuing exchange of fire, Vikram Gowda was killed. However, others fled inside the forest. The ANF has continued the combing operations. Vikram Gowda was the leader of the Netravati Naxal unit.
