Taluk Janapada Yuva Balaga will be a part of Taluk Janapada Parishat and will serve as a platform for young enthusiasts of folk art, said Taluk Janapada Parishat president Anil H T.
Speaking during the meeting of the parishat, held at Lions Hall in Madikeri on Sunday, he said that the Taluk Janapada Parishat will constitute the Janapada Yuva Balaga, to provide opportunities for budding folk artists.
There are plans to start the branches of the Janapada Yuva Balaga in schools and colleges in the days to come, he said.
Taluk Janapada Parishat programme coordinator K Jayalakshmi said that the Janapada Parishat has been organising a variety of programmes for the last four years and has provided encouragement to a lot of artistes.
The formation of the Youth Wing of the Janapada Parishat is a feather in the wings of the Parishat, she added.
Taluk Janapada Parishat treasurer Navin Ambekal said that the Taluk Janapada Parishat has successfully organised folk dance competition, sports fest, painting exhibition and the exhibition of antique items recently.
Anil H T, M C Ravi and Ambekal Navin were re-elected as the president, general secretary and treasurer of Madikeri Taluk Janapada Parishat respectively.
Ravi P and Pratima Harish Rai were elected as the vice presidents on the occasion.
The other office-bearers are, M Dhananjay - joint secretary; Chokira Anita Devaiah, P V Prabhakar and Nazia - organising secretaries; Kausar, Akshata Shetty and P G Sukumar - planning committee directors; Poornima Joshi, Bharati Kadagadalu, Anusha, Sheela and Shilpa Veena Holla - members of artistes’ selection committee.
Gayatri Cheriyamane, Sriraksha Prabhakar, Swapna Madhukar Shet, Shena Madhukar Shet, Supreetha and Yakshith were appointed as the conveners of the Taluk Janapada Yuva Balaga.
A programme of folk songs was held on the occasion.
