Kalaburagi: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was presented with a 'gold-coated' crown, a garland made of silver and a silver sword by Afzalpur MLA Malikayya Guttedar during the inauguration and unveiling of foundation stone plaques of various development works at Afzalpur on Saturday.

Siddaramaiah quitely accepted the expensive gifts and didn't oppose the presentation or return them as he had done on a few occassions in the past.

For instance, during the inauguration of Shivasharane Hemareddy Mallamma Study Chair at Gulbarga University in Kalaburagi in March this year, Siddaramaiah was presented with a silver idol of a cow and a calf and a gold medal.

However, in the background of Hublot watch controversy, the chief minister had returned the idol and the gold medal on the stage itself. The gold medal was presented to him by Higher Education Minister Basavaraj Rayareddy.

But this time, Siddaramaiah didn't make any such guestures.

Later, Guttedar told reporters that he presented the gold-coated crown, which was gifted by the party workers, to the chief minister.
