According to the officials, the tigress may be aged between six and seven years. The animal had raided villages in the surroundings of a private resort, for the last 10 days and had killed many cattle.

On Sunday morning, it was learnt that the animal has taken refuge in the sugarcane field of Nanjappa at N Belathur. On receiving the information, veterinarian attached to Forest Department Dr Nagaraj arrived at the spot and tranquilised the animal. After one-and-a-half hours, the animal was found in an unconscious state at the field. It was later shifted to a cage and tranquilised again to help the animal regain its consciousness.
