Tribals celebrate Haadi Habba

The fest was added in the programme list of Karnataka Kodava Sahitya Academy for the year 2010-11.

Varieties of cultural programmes were staged on the occasion portraying the rich art and culture of the tribal people.

The art forms like Urttikott At, Ummatthat, Bolakat, Kolat and other were performed by the members of Kudiya community. Yavakapadi Poomale Yuvaka Mandali and cultural groups from Thora, Kakkabbean and Bettathur staged performances.

Inaugurating the programme, Koopadira Mittu Machaiah said, the connection between Kodavas and Kudiyas exists from several generations. This relationship should remain intact even in the generations to come, he said.

Kodava Sahitya Aacademy President Aimudiyanda Rani Machaiah who presided over the function asked the Kudiya community members to join their hands with the Academy so as to build a healthy society. Poomale Kudiya Yuvaka Mandali President Kudiyara Mutthappa presented his views on the ‘Culture of Tribals’.
