Coastalwood’s 103rd Tulu film, ‘Deyi Baideti – Gejjegiri Nandanodu’, will hit the screens on Friday.
Film producer and director Suryoday Permapalli told reporters at a press meet at the Patrika Bhavan on Thursday that the film will be released in single screen and multiplex theatres in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.
The film will be screened at Jyothi, PVR Bharat Cinemas and Cinepolis in Mangaluru, Bharat Chitra Mandira in Belthangady, Nataraj in Surathkal, Amarashree in Moodbidri, Planet in Karkala, Inox and Bharat Cinemas in Manipal and Kalpana in Udupi.
The film is an adaption on the life of ‘Deyi Baideti’, mother of Koti – Chennayya, the twin warriors of Tulunadu. The story of Deyi Baideti passed on from one generation to another through Paddanas (oral singing), is all set to reach the masses through the medium of film, said the producer.
Permapalli added that efforts had been made to reflect the everyday life and traditions some 500 years ago. The stories in the ‘Baidarla Paddana’, which he had heard from his mother, Sankri Amin, and his uncle Patrima Poojari, inspired him to produce the movie.
The Censor Board has given the film a U certificate, Permapalli said.
