Twitter campaign for road connectivity

A few people from the coast, working in Bengaluru, have started a Twitter campaign with hashtag #connectustomangalore to draw attention on lack of road connectivity due to landslides.

“”We launched the twitter campaign as Union Ministers and the state government respond to social media appeals. Besides the campaign, memoranda are being submitted to MLAs and MPs for better road connectivity,” Gopal Pai of Mani said.

Many took to the twitter expressing displeasure over closure of the highway.

Siddarth Pai said: “Request @CMofKarnataka @hd_kumaraswamy to look into the issue of road connectivity from Bangalore to Mangalore and other coastal regions of Karnataka with highest priority. Millions from coastal areas are living in Bangalore...”

Sachin Shenoy said: “The Shiradi and Charmadi ghats have for long been as an opportunity for corruption where the roads need repair very frequently. Why can’t we find a permanent solution? #Mangalore contributes immensely to nation building in all means! We deserve more! #connectustomangalore.”

MLA Vedavyas Kamath said: “Connectivity towards Madikeri from Mangaluru is very essential for continuity of business. Many students travel to Mangaluru for education. As Mangaluru, a port city, carries out import and expert. I will ensure better and safer road infrastructure.”

Union Minister Sadananda Gowda in his tweet said: “Bengaluru - Karavali Road connectivity, the reality is different than reported. My sources say the Shiradi ghat can be repaired in 1 week time. I urged Mr Revanna H D Hon’ble PWD Minister of Karnataka to look in to this...”
