Speaking at a meeting of people’s representatives at the Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) hall here on Monday, the minister said the draft of the policy will be finalised during the one-day workshop for mayors, municipal corporation commissioners, presidents and commissioners of City municipal councils, and chairpersons and commissioners of urban development authorities to be held in Mysore on December 4.
Under the new policy, onus of developing slums will also be on municipal corporations, Suresh Kumar said.
Steps will be taken to conduct open auction of leased properties during which existing occupants will be given priority, he said.
The move will help the corporation to generate more income, Minister Suresh Kumar added.
Hike in honorarium
“The honorarium for corporators will also be increased. All commercial complexes should have parking space and we will also take steps to introduce one-time settlement removing the commercial establishments in the space meant for parking. Negligence of the corporations also resulted in such kind of violation of rules in commercial complexes.
Absence of parking space has created traffic congestion also,” the minister added.
