RDPR Minister Shobha Karandlaje, on Thursday, in a video conference with Zilla Panchayat chief executive officers of flood-hit areas, told them to meet at least 50 per cent of NREGS targets by mid-November this year.
Every district should take up works worth at least Rs 50 lakh a day.
The minister asked the district-level officers not to summon taluk panchayat officers for meetings repeatedly. “Officers at taluk-level have been busy attending to relief works. Don’t waste their time in the name of meetings in district headquarters”, she said.
RDPR Secretary Ravikumar, also present in the video conference, said the CEOs would be held responsible if the taluk-level officers were summoned to district head quarters repeatedly.
Shobha Karandlaje took CEOs of Bellary, Gadag and Bidar districts to task for poor performance in executing NREGS works.
The government should make better use of the project in taking up all necessary works in villages.
Shobha instructed the officers to complete construction of school buildings, hospitals and anganwadis damaged due to rains by November 15.
