Kolar MLA Varthur Prakash on Tuesday, announced of launching a new party 'Namma Congress' at Kudalasangama on December 19.
Addressing media here Prakash said that around six lakh people are expected to attend the programme, including 20,000 people from Hassan district.
"The party would contest in 30 Assembly constituencies in the upcoming elections. Candidates will be fielded at Arkalgud and Holenarsipur constituencies in Hassan district. I am confident of winning more than 15 seats and the party will play a deciding role in the formation of the new government," he said.
'Ahindas neglected'
Prakash alleged that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has totally neglected the Ahinda communities. "The CM had neglected the leaders of deprived classes like A H Vishwanath, V Srinivas Prasad, and Sathish Jarakiholi, forgetting that they played a major role in bringing the Congress to power. Kurubas, who are in the second place in the state's population, have been neglected. Siddaramaiah failed to give due representation to the Kuruba community leaders in the government. He tried to pacify the community people by making H M Revanna as Transport minister, at the end of the tenure. He should have been given important portfolios like Water Resources or Urban Development," he opined.
Failed to keep promises
"The Congress government has been telling lies that it has fulfilled all the promises made during the previous elections. Siddarmaiah had assured of bringing Kuruba community under ST category, which has been put on the backburner. The Congress is a sinking ship and the communal party BJP too will not come to power," he said.
Commenting on the BJP, Prakash said, the party is not worried about development. "The BJP is trying to create trouble in the name of temple and religion. As the people have lost hopes on both the national parties, I decided to launch a new party," he said.
