Veteran Kannada writer Ko Channabasappa passed away on Saturday. He was 96.

Born in Alur in the Kudligi taluk of Ballari district, Channabasappa - or KoChe as he was known in the literary world - was trained as a lawyer. He was also a freedom fighter who participated in the Quit India movement. KoChe was a recipient of the Rajyotsava and Nadoja awards. He was ailing with age-related health issues, according to reports.
