Villagers oppose SWM unit in Thondoor

Villagers express displeasure at the proposed setting up of a solid waste management unit in Thondoor.

Following opposition from villagers for setting up a solid waste management unit at Thondoor in 7th Hosakote Gram Panchayat, the authorities decided to go for alternative land.

The Gram Panchayat with the help of the police force had laid pillars on 50 cents paisari land on survey number 105 at 7th Hosakote. However, the villagers opposed the move.

Following pressure from the villagers, Gram Panchayat president Ramesh said that the government land was only surveyed and a solid waste management unit will not be set up on the said land.

Thondoor resident Santhosh said, “We are against the setting up of a solid waste management unit near our houses.”
