Villagers reach I-Day venue in coracle, hoist tricolour

Amid flood, the villagers hoisted the flag using a coracle, at Nelyahudikeri.

With the rivers in spate and villages on the banks of the district marooned, people at Nelyahudikeri near Siddapura in the district did not forget to celebrate Independence Day.

The flood water had entered the road and a situation had arisen in which villagers could not reach the flag post. However, using a coracle, the residents reached the flag post to hoist the flag. Similarly in Bethri village, the residents hoisted the flag using coarcle near the masjid.
