Villagers unitedly save Kookrabettu school

A school that was on the verge of closure was saved with the efforts of Sarakari Shaale Ulisi Belesi Samithi state president Prakash Anchan and Marodi Grama Samithi’s Jayanth Kotian and team.

The school is located at Kookrabettu in Marodi village of Belthangady taluk.

In previous academic year, the school had only 16 children on rolls. With the efforts of villagers and Prakash Anchan, 36 children were admitted to LKG and UKG in the school. In the previous academic year, only one student was admitted to class one. This year, as many as 18 students were admitted to the school.

Speaking after distributing uniforms and textbooks, MLA Harish Poonja said “Kookrabettu School is a model in the taluk. The efforts of the villagers have helped us to save the school from shutting down.”

He promised a Rs 20 lakh grant from CSR fund of various companies next year to the school. “Teachers should impart quality education to the children,” he urged.
