Visvesvaraya Tech adopts credit system for flexibility

Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, which has adopted Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) considering the request of students, has modified regulations.

VTU, as per guidelines of University Grants Commission (UGC), has adopted internationally acknowledged CBCS from the academic year 2015-16, to bring academic flexibility and to improve quality of technical education.

Students, who are admitted under the CBCS during the academic year 2015-16 and not eligible to the fifth semester, have requested to extend the facility of supplementary examination, carryover system or one-time exit scheme.

The university has already considered the request of the students and modified the regulations. Students seeking admission to the third semester BE/BTech/BArch may carry four subjects from I year (i.e. I and II Semesters), the fifth semester BE/BTech/BArch may carry four subjects from I and II years (i.e. I to IV Semesters), seventh semester BE/BTech/BArch must have cleared all subjects of I year (I and II semesters) and may carry four subjects from II and III year (i.e. III and VI Semesters), ninth semester BArch must have cleared all subjects of I and II years (I to IV semesters) may carry four subjects from III and IV years (i.e. V and VIII Semesters). Subjects include both theory and practical. In this regard, a notification has already been issued by the university on September 7, 2018 and it is available in VTU’s website - www.vtu.ac.in.

Further, the students, who become eligible to study the fifth semester onwards under the 2015-16 scheme, will continue their studies in the same scheme. In order to keep academic excellence at VTU, the university authorities have decided not to relax the regulations further, according to a press release from Registrar Dr H N Jagannatha Reddy.
