The campus will include 10 buildings being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 29.5 crore.

The Mysore VTU-regional centre will be home to the administrative and training centre for Postgraduate engineering courses including M Tech and MBA. VTU Industrial automation labs will be shifted to the new campus. 

VTU registrar, K V A Balaji said that all programmes being held in affiliated colleges will be shifted to the new campus. It will also act as the regional, administrative and co-ordination centre for the region. The Bosch Centre of Excellence will be shifted to the new campus.

Visvesvaraya Institute for Advanced Technologies (VIAT) programme will also be undertaken at the new regional centre. He said that the new campus will cater to the postgraduate, VIAT, and will act as training centre for both students and faculty.

The campus will include separate building blocks for postgraduate courses, library, guest house, and hostels. A separate hostel for trainees undertaking courses at the centre will also be constructed. The Mysore VTU-regional centre will be the nodal centre for 43 engineering colleges from Davangere, Chitradurga, Mangalore, Hassan, Dakshin Kannada, Mandya, Chikmagalur and Chamarajanagar. The regional centre is currently housed in the Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering campus. The other VTU regional centres are located in Bangalore, Gulbarga with the headquarters in Belgaum.

A preliminary meeting of principals of the seven engineering colleges in the city was held on Saturday at the new building. The inauguration will take place on Sept 15 on Engineers’ Day celebrated in memory of Sir M Visvesvaraya. Governor H R Bhardwaj, Higher Education Minister  Aravind Limbavali, District In-charge Minister Suresh Kumar and others will participate.
