MLA Appacchuranjan had raised the issue of two persons’ death in wild elephant attack at Hampapura near Kodlipete during the zero hour in the session on Tuesday. “Several people are killed by the wild elephants every year in Kodagu. The families are in distress. However, the compensation paid by the government is meagre. The government must pay a compensation of atleast Rs 3 lakh,” the MLA appealed.
Replying to the same, the CM said a sum of Rs 1.50 lakh is being paid as the compensation, which will be increased to Rs 2 lakh.
