Speaking to media persons here on Tuesday, she said the case was registered in Karkala police station, however, the Karkala Circle Inspector of Police issued a notice to the complainant stating that no material was found to support the idea of Alwyn’s unnatural death.  When the family of the deceased approached High Court, it ordered to exhume the body and to conduct the post mortem afresh.

The second autopsy could not ascertain the cause of death due to putrefactive changes associated with the body. But the report did not rule out the possibilities of death due to unnatural means, she informed.
At present, Udupi District SP Dr Ravikumar has assigned Karkala PSI to investigate the case further as directed by the High Court.
Alwyn was killed while he had been to a swim along with his friends, also his business partners, to Gundya Lake at Nakre village nearby his house. Alwyn was into shamiyana business. Prakash Matiz, Benjamin D’Souza, Navin Lobo, Wilma Matiz, Rudolf D Souza and Vinod Menenzes were along with Alwyn when he drowned in the lake. The first postmortem report showed marks on the neck of the deceased, she said and urged that the culprits should be punished at the earliest.
