Yogini Kaliji, founder of TriYoga, on her 20th visit to India, opined that yoga cannot cure diseases, but has the capacity to prevent diseases by boosting immunity. At the same time, she expressed her concerns over the ‘commercialisation of yoga’, especially in Western countries.
Speaking to the media persons at an interaction programme on Mysore District Journalists’ Association (MDJA) premises here on Saturday, she said yoga helps ‘harmonise the mind, body and spirit.’
“TriYoga, which includes the full range of yoga practices is taught in more than 40 countries like Australia, Austria, Germany, India and the United States,” she said. She said ‘healing therapeutic music’ is also used to enhance the harmony of body and mind in the modern yogic trend.
Responding to queries, she said yoga was getting popular in the West, with people of all ages practising it. She said more than 20 million people practised yoga in the USA. K Raghavendra Pai of Sri Vedavyasa Yoga Prathishtana said Yoga increased the ‘bio-magnetic plasmic energy’ in the human body.
Yogini Kaliji demonstrated a few mudras to the participants. She was also felicitated at the programme. She was in the city as part of the fifth annual ‘TriYoga Yatra’. The Yatra will be held till December 27, where free training on Yoga, pranayama, mudras and other yogic techniques will be demonstrated.
