DMK president M Karunanidhi flayed the Tamil Nadu government for alleged procrastination in organising talks between representatives of the state fishermen and Sri Lanka.
In a statement, he alleged that the state government has not acted on the demand to announce the date for the talks for months.
“I wonder when the government will conduct the talks”, he said in a statement here.
He also urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to take up the issue of Indian fishermen's arrests with the Sri Lankan government and sought talks between fishermen of the two countries very soon. In a letter to Singh, Karunanidhi said that unless the Indian government took a serious view of the attacks on Indian fishermen by Lanka and “launches firm and fit action”, the situation will deteriorate.
