Telangana Rashtra Samithi Party president and Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao on Friday appointed his son K Taraka Rama Rao as the TRS party working president (executive president).
A massive mandate in the recent elections already in his kitty, the TRS chief is said to have elevated his son to the key position so that he can concentrate more on national politics, and a later stage even anoint his son to the post of the chief minister.
Governance activities being the objects of his attention now, he wanted to entrust party matters to someone he trusted and was efficient, sources said. KCR is planning to devote his time to expediting construction of irrigation projects and also to implement the electoral promises in letter and spirit, sources said.
According a statement, KCR’s decision to play a pivotal role in national politics and take forward the welfare and development programmes in the state, would weigh in heavy on him. “Against this background, KCR has entrusted the responsibility of taking forward the party in accordance with his plan, to KTR, the most trusted person in party,” the statement said.
It also said that KCR plans to make the TRS the largest party in the country, and hence, his son KTR will be handling member enrollment, building party offices in districts and strengthening the party. KTR has been quite efficient in handling party and governance activities so far, sources said.
KTR (42) represents Sircilla Assembly segment and was elected for the fourth time from the constituency. The foreign educated state IT minister is fluent in English, Hindi, Urdu and Telugu and holds two PG degrees — MSc in bio-technology from University of Pune and MBA in marketing and e-commerce from City University of New York.
He was awarded the Inspirational Icon Of The Year for politics by CNN-IBN, and Ritz Magazine Skoch Challenger of the Year in 2015 and 2017.
