Thiruvananthapuram: Family of former additional district magistrate in Kerala Naveen Babu, who was found hanging after being snubbed by a CPM leader, has sought a CBI probe into the unnatural death.
Babu's wife Manjusha filed a petition at the Kerala High Court in this regard on Tuesday.
She raised suspicions over the police's finding that Babu ended life by suicide. She also said in the petition that Babu's inquest was conducted in a hasty manner before the family members reached the spot. The police investigation was not progressing in the right direction. Many crucial evidence like phone call records were not being examined, she alleged.
Babu was found hanging in his official residence at Kannur on October 15, a day after he was snubbed by the Kannur district panchayat president and CPM local leader P P Divya during his sent off function. She accused Babu of deliberately delaying a petrol pump application for getting illegal gratification. Divya, who was arrested in the case, later obtained bail. She was also removed from the district panchayat post and all elected party posts by the CPM.
