"Kolkata is very much on the radar of terrorists," Commissioner of Kolkata Police Gautam Mohan Chakrabarti said. The police were making every effort to make sure that terrorist outfits "exported from a neighbouring country" were unable to strike in the strategically located city, he said.

A Special Task Force has been set up comprising high police officials who were keeping a strict vigil to avert any kind of disaster, he said while speaking at the Merchants' Chamber of Commerce here. Another problem was people crossing over from Bangladesh.

"In spite of BSF's presence, the border is not really sealed and protected," Chakrabarti said. He also said the police force was getting the most modern Tetra Technology to upgrade communications system.

To tackle cyber crime the police would have a dedicated police station and was also talking to Nasscom to set up a cyber crime laboratory. A dedicated police force for the underground railway in the city was also on the cards, the officer added.
