Housing about 10,000 athletes, officials and thousand-odd volunteers from different colleges and universities, the Games Village provided a different kind of opportunity for the love birds who celebrated the occasion.
A member of the Uttar Pradesh aquatics team was seen posing with another member with flowers, while for some it was about watching a movie together being shown at the State Museum Auditorium.
The movie for the day was Salman Khan-starrer romantic action movie 'Dabangg'.
"Valentine's Day is not just about lovers, but it's also about spreading love and affection. We are here as a family, like brothers and sisters. The occasion is really special and we are liking it very much here. We are exchanging flower pots," a woman member of the UP aquatics team told PTI.
It was also a special occasion for them as in the morning session their diver Himanshu Tiwari won a gold medal.
"We are going to give him a treat this evening. Tiwari has made our day," swimming coach Prabhat Mishra said. Busy with their respective commitments, a sporting couple from Goa was seen sharing the same plate at Khel Gaon's dining complex known as Food Plaza.
"Every day is a Valentine's Day for us. Today is nothing special. But the atmosphere here is really romantic, we are enjoying every moment here," the couple said. For 80 volunteers from the Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Mesra it was not only work but also about expressing feelings for each other.
"We wished each other and distributed chocolates. It's a first time opportunity here and we are liking it," Niraj Mishra, a final year IT student in BIT Mesra, said. To make the occasion more memorable, the organisers have also arranged a musical evening inside the Khel Gaon.
