New Delhi: MV Shreyams Kumar of the Mathrubhumi has been elected as the president of he Indian Newspaper Society (INS) for the year 2024-25. The decision was taken at the 85th Annual General Meeting of the INS, an apex body of publishers of newspapers, magazines and periodicals, which was conducted through video-conferencing on Friday.

Shreyams succeeds Rakesh Sharma of Aaj Samaj, who was the president for the period of 2023-24. 

Among the 41 members of the executive committee of the Society are KN Tilak Kumar, Joint Managing Director of Deccan Herald and Prajavani, Viveck Goenka of The Indian Express, Atideb Sarkar of The Telegraph, and Praveen Someshwar of The Hindustan Times.    

Vivek Gupta of Sanmarg has been elected as the deputy president, Karan Rajendra Darda of Lokmat as the vice-president and Tanmay Maheshwari of Amar Ujala has been elected as the honorary treasurer for this term. Mary Paul will be the General Secretary of the society.
