Bengaluru: The Bengaluru police on late Friday night arrested the suspect behind the murder of a 24-year-old woman in a Paying Guest accommodation in southeast Bengaluru's Koramangala recently.
Police identified the suspect as Abhishekh, aged between 24 and 26 years.
The Bengaluru city police commissioner B Dayananda confirmed to DH that the suspect was indeed arrested late Friday night.
Sara Fathima, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Southeast, told DH that the suspect was nabbed from Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal. “We are bringing him to Bengaluru, the investigation will continue once the team lands here,” Fathima told DH, adding that the suspect had fled to Bhopal soon after the murder.
Kruti Kumari, 24, a native of Bihar, was stabbed to death in the Bhargavi Staying Homes in Koramangala's Venkatareddy Layout on Tuesday at around 11:15 pm. The suspect allegedly walked up to the third floor of the PG and killed her by stabbing her multiple times.
According to the police, Abhishek is a mutual friend of Kruti. The motive behind the murder is yet to be established. According to the police, soon after the incident, Abhishek had allegedly switched off his mobile phone and hit the road towards Bhopal.
The arrest came three days after the murder.
