Madurai geared up for wedding of Alagiri's son

The city wore a festive look with high power lights and serial bulbs illuminating the main roads leading to the Tamukkam ground where the wedding of Dayanidhi with Anusha Sitaraman, daughter of a Chennai based lawyer,is being held.

Tamil Nadu Finance Minister and DMK senior leader K Anbhazhagan will preside over the wedding ceremony.

Chief Minister M Karunanidhi will also be present to bless his grandson. Union Ministers Praful Patel, P Chidambaram, G K Vasan, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Dayanidhi Maran are among those likely to attend either the wedding tomorrow or the reception today. Karnataka Chief Minister Yeddyurappa had said he will attend the wedding if he was not otherwise occupied.
Alagiri had personally invited Prime Minster Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi for the marriage.

Banners and flex boards had been put up only on the roads near the Tamukkam ground. The entrance to the ground, which has been turned into a wedding hall, was decorated in the model of a Fort.

Officials were tightlipped about the expenses. Deputy Chief Minister and Alagiri's brother M K Stalin visited the venue to oversee the arrangements.

Road encroachments were removed over the week. The stretch from Alagiri's house to Tamukkam ground, which was taken up for refurbishment 15 days ago, has been decorated with lights and festoons.

Actors Kamal Haasan and Rajinikant, among other film personalities, are likely to attend the wedding.
