Two brothers were killed and three others were injured after their car hit a divider on the road and burst into flames in Sion area of Mumbai in the wee hours of Monday.

The deceased were identified as Ajay Vaghela (20) and Prem Vaghela (18).

Three others injured were identified as Harsh Kadam (20), Ritesh Bhoir (25) and Kunal Attar (33).

They are being treated for burn injuries.

The incident took place at 0424 hrs near the Ganga Vihar Hotel at Sion, when the CNG-driven car hit the divider and caught fire.

Some locals alerted the fire brigade and police personnel who rushed to the spot and doused the fire.

An ADR has been registered by the Sion police station and investigations are in progress.

They are residents of Mankhurd and were on their way to Marine Drive.

Blood samples have been taken to check the presence of alcohol.
