The deceased was identified as Lipi Rastogi. She is the daughter of IAS officers Vikas Rastogi and Radhika Rastogi, who are officers of the Maharashtra-cadre.

The police has recovered a suicide note from her room saying no one should be blamed for her death.

Lipi was pursuing an LLB degree at Sonipat in Haryana.

She jumped to death from her parents’ flat which was located in Suruchi government officers’ accommodation complex in the Nariman Point area of Mumbai.

The incident took place around 0400 hrs.

She was rushed to the state-run GT Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on admission.

The Cuffe Parade police have filed an accidental death report (ADR) and investigations are underway.

While Vikas Rastogi is Principal Secretary in the Education Department, Radhika Rastogi is Principal Secretary in the Home Department.

In a similar case in 2017, Maharashtra cadre IAS officers Milind and Manisha Mhaiskar lost their 18-year-old son after he jumped off a Mumbai high-rise.
