Zeeshan Siddiqui, a Congress MLA and the son of slain NCP leader Baba Siddiqui, had received threats a few days before the shooting on Saturday, news agency ANI reported.

The accused said during interrogation that both Zeeshan and Baba Siddiqui had been on their target list and that they were ordered to fire on anyone they found.

NCP leader Baba Siddique was shot dead in Mumbai's Bandra area on October 12 by three persons who took cover of Dussehra fireworks to open fire, a police official said on Monday.

Six rounds were fired on Siddique, two of which hit the 66-year-old former Maharashtra minister on the chest, outside his MLA son Zeeshan Siddique's office in Nirmal Nagar between 9:15pm and 9:30pm on Saturday.

The Congress-turned-NCP leader, who police said was provided non-categorised security, was rushed to Lilavati Hospital where he was declared dead by doctors.

Meanwhile, the Mumbai police have arrested a 28-year-old man from Pune who along with his brother “enlisted” two of the three alleged shooters in the Baba Siddique murder case.

Police called the man, Pravin Lonkar, a “co-conspirator” and said they are on the lookout of his brother Shubham Lonkar. This is the third arrest in the case of Siddique's murder.

Earlier, two others—Dharamraj Kashyap and Gurmail Singh—had been arrested in connection with the case.
