Yesterday, Sawant hit out at Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, saying, he "feels like vomiting after sitting next to NCP ministers”.

BJP’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who calls the shots, has maintained silence over the issue.

Fadnavis’ close aide and MLC Pravin Darekar, said such comments are unwarranted.

Shinde has asked Sawant for an explanation.

On his part, Ajit Pawar has downplayed the comments saying, “I work for the people and do not pay attention to criticism. It does not matter if someone speaks against me,” he said.

State NCP President Sunil Tatkare has taken objections to the statements of Sawant.

“Shinde is a sensible and sensitive leader, as well as a capable administrator. I'm hopeful he will take appropriate action against a loose cannon like Sawant," he said.
