Mumbai: In a shocking development, Amol Kale, the president of Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), passed away following a heart attack in New York.

Kale was also a trustee of Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanams.

He watched the India vs Pakistan match live from the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York stadium along with MCA office bearers on Sunday night.

He was accompanied by MCA secretary Ajinkya Naik and apex council member Suraj Samat.

Kale was 47.

Kale was considered close to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. 

He hailed from Nagpur but settled in Mumbai, where he ran several businesses. 

He was a successful first-generation business owner, entrepreneur, industrialist and angel investor with over 15+ years of growth-focused business experience and exposure across diverse industry domains. 

Kale took from former cricketer Sandeep Patil to become the MCA president in 2022 in a keenly-contested election. 

Under his leadership, Mumbai went on to win the Ranji Trophy title in the 2023-24 season. 

A statue of legendary India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar was unveiled at Wankhede Stadium on 2 November, 2023, a day before India took on Sri Lanka in an ODI World Cup match.

He contested the polls from the Sharad Pawar-Ashish Shelar Group.

NCP (SP) MLA and former minister Dr Jitendra Awhad posted on X (formerly Twitter): “Heard the sad news of the demise of #AmolKale, President of Mumbai Cricket Association. Good Organiser and a Cricket lover…. Amol… this was not your age to say goodbye to the world. It’s a personal loss to me.”
