Mumbai: A group of legislators belonging to the tribal community started a protest inside the high-security Mantralaya complex in Mumbai by jumping on the safety nets from the top floor.

The members of the group, which is led by Narhari Zirwal, have been rescued by security personnel and police. 

They were protesting against a move to give the Dhangar community reservations under the ST category.

The incident took place when Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was chairing an important Cabinet meeting in which all his ministerial colleagues including Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar were also present.

The group of six to seven MLAs were demanding an immediate audience with Shinde. Zirwal belongs to the Ajit Pawar-led NCP.
