Maharashtra becomes first state to have independent department of disabled welfare

A separate Divyang department for the welfare of differently-abled persons with a fund allocation of Rs 1,143 crore was announced by CM Eknath Shinde in Mumbai. Bapurao Kane President of Prahar Apang Kranti Organization expressed his happiness and said that Maharashtra is the first state in India to have an independent Department of Disabled Welfare.

B Kane, president Prahar Kranti Organisation on Dec 03 said, “Today is a historic day for the differently abled. Maharashtra has become first state to have an independent department of disabled welfare. Till now, to get justice to the disabled, sometimes the Ministry of Urban Development, sometimes the Ministry of Rural Development, sometimes social justice had to run to different places. With this many queries will be solved in one place. CM Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has taken a good step for the ease of disabled people.”
