The new government headed by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Monday won the trust vote in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.
The Shiv Sena faction headed by Shinde and BJP led by Deputy Chief Minister got 164 votes.
The Opposition comprising Shiv Sena faction, NCP and Congress got 99 votes. Three members remained neutral.
The total members of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly is 288, however, the current actual strength is 287.
Speaker Rahul Narwekar, who was in the Chair, said that Shinde won the trust vote when he crossed the benchmark during the headcount.
Initially the motion was put to voice vote but the Opposition demanded a division—after which headcount was order.
