The four police jawans injured in today's anti-Naxal operation in Gadchiroli were airlifted and admitted to Critical Care Complex of Orange City Hospital and Research Insitute in Nagpur, the hospital says (ANI)

At least six Naxals were killed during an encounter with police and security forces in Dhanora in Gadchiroli district of Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.

The gunfight involved a dalam of the CPI (Maoist) and the C-60 unit of the Anti-Naxal Operations of the Maharashtra Police. (DHNS)

Section 144 in Amravati in view of protests against Tripura violence

A curfew was imposed in Maharashtra's Amravati city on Saturday against the backdrop of back to back incidents of stone-pelting on Friday and Saturday, an official order said. As per the order issued on Saturday by the Amravati police commissionerate, the curfew has come into effect in the limits of the city and will remain in force till further order is issued.

20 FIRs registered, 20 held over protests against Tripura violence

At least 20 FIRs were registered in connection with stone-pelting during rallies held in protest against the Tripura communal violence in five districts of Maharashtra and 20 persons were arrested, police said on Saturday. The incidents of stone-pelting had mainly occurred in Amravati, Malegaon and Nanded city during the rallies taken out by some Muslim organisations on Friday. In Amravati city in east Maharashtra, over eight thousand people gathered outside the district collector's office to submit a memorandum demanding that atrocities against the minority community should be stopped, officials had said.

Over 1,500 MSRTC employees rejoin duty, 36 buses operated

As many as 1,532 employees of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation on Friday resumed duty and 36 buses were operated across the state even as the strike called by the unions entered its 16th day without any solution in sight.

The number of employees who joined duty as claimed by the MSRTC and that of the buses which ran on the roads were miniscule. The corporation has about 95,000 employees on its rolls, and maintains a fleet of about 16,000 buses.

Sena needs to think differently even as it leads MVA, says Raut

The Shiv Sena will have to think differently for itself even as it remains part of and steers the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra, the party's Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut said on Friday. Speaking at an event to felicitate party workers, he also expressed confidence that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray would lead the country some day. "Politics is changeable. What is today, may not be tomorrow. So while we are with the MVA, we also have to think differently. While the party is changing, we must work to gain the faith of every community," he said.
