Four days after her injury at Nandigram, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was back on the streets on Sunday on a wheelchair making it clear that she was determined to give her all in the upcoming assembly elections. With a heavily bandaged left foot, Mamata led a five-kilometer-long Trinamool Congress (TMC) roadshow in Kolkata with her wheelchair pushed by her security personnel.
The TMC supremo was greeting people with folded hands on her wheelchair. She led the roadshow from Mayo Road in Central Kolkata to Hazra More in Central Kolkata. The roadshow was held by the TMC to observe the Nandigram Diwas to commemorate the death of 14 villagers in alleged police firing in Nandigram in 2007 during the land agitation against the Left Front government.
The feisty Chief Minister said that the attempt to prevent her from campaigning had failed and she would campaign across the state. Issuing a veiled warning at the BJP, Mamata said that a wounded tiger was more dangerous.

“ I have been attacked many times in my life. But never bowed down before anyone. I will never surrender and back down from anyone. An injured tiger is always more dangerous,” said Mamata.
She also said that the doctors advised her to be on bed rest, but she resumed campaigning as few days were already lost due to her injury.
“The doctors advised me to be on bed rest but then who will reach out to the people, who will stand by those by the oppressed. The pain in the hearts of the people is much greater than my physical pain,” said Mamata.
Urging the people to “keep faith” in her, Mamata said “ trust me. I will campaign across the state even with a broken leg and on a wheelchair.”
Earlier in the day she stated in a tweet that although she was in a lot of pain but the pain of the people was more severe.
“We will continue to fight boldly! I'm still in a lot of pain, but I feel the pain of my people even more. In this fight to protect our revered land, we have suffered a lot and will suffer more but we will NEVER bow down to COWARDICE!” tweeted Mamata.
