Seeking to corner West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee with corruption charges, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday targeted her nephew Abhishek Banerjee.

Without directly naming the Trinamool Congress (MP), Modi said that while in other states there is a single window system for speedy clearance of industrial projects but in Bengal there is only the “bhaipo window” (nephew window) and without crossing it no work can be done.

“There is a single window system in other states for speedy and hassle free clearance of industrial projects. But in Bengal there is a new kind of single window system. Its called the ‘bhaipo window’ and without entering it no work gets done,” said Modi. He was speaking at a rally at Kharagpur in West Medinipur district.

He further alleged that in the last 10 years no major industry has come up in Bengal due to the syndicate rule under the TMC. “There is only mafia business in the State,” said Modi.

Lashing out at Mamata, the Prime Minister accused her of betraying the people of Bengal and running a Government of extortionists.

“Didi is standing like a wall blocking the path of Bengal’s development. You (people) trusted her but she betrayed you and shattered your dreams. Didi the people of Bengal gave you an opportunity for 10 years but you destroyed Bengal,” said Modi.

The Prime Minister slammed Mamata for opposing the new education policy and accused her of ruining 10 years in the lives of Bengal’s youth. Taking potshots at Mamata’s slogan “khela hobey” (game on), Modi said that she had been saying “khela hobey” but the people of Bengal now want the game to be over.

“Didi has been saying ‘khela hobey’, but Bengal is saying ‘khela sesh hobey ( game will be over) and development will start. I assure the youth, women, poor and Dalits of Bengal that we will not allow Didi to play with your future anymore,” said Modi.

“Didi has always resorted to appeasement politics...her party is a school for cruelty which has extortion, cut money and syndicate in its syllabus. Didi’s school teaches how to commit atrocities and resort to anarchy,” said Modi.

Seeking to refute the Chief Minister’s “outsider” barb at the BJP, the Prime Minister said that the party a successor to the Jan Sangh founded by “Bengal’s own” Syamaprasad Mokkerjee” has Bengal in it’s DNA.
