"We are protesting the decision to disinvest 10 per cent in Coal India and Hindustan Copper by the Centre," Kishenji said from an undisclosed location.
Besides the five states, three districts of Maharashtra -- Gadchiroli, Bhandara, besides Madhya Pradesh's Chandrapur and Balaghat districts would also be under the purview of the bandh, he said.
The Maoist Politburo member said that essential services, including the Railways, electricity, ambulance, milk and newspapers would be exempted.
He also held the the government and the BJP responsible for the escape of former chairman of Union Carbide, Warren Anderson in the wake of the Bhopal Gas tragedy.
Maoists will also observe 'protest week' from Wednesday on these issues.
